Houston Holiday Shopping: Millennials Care about Retailers’ Social Values (but more so the price)

Houstonians again plan to spend more than the average American on holiday shopping

Houstonians plan on spending $682 on holiday shopping this year, according to Accenture.

With Christmas less than three months away, you may start thinking about your holiday shopping.

Consulting firm Accenture already has some insights on this year’s trends.

The firm’s annual holiday shopping survey shows as usual, Houston is above average when it comes to spending: At $682, Houstonians plan to spend $24 more than the national average this year.

Jill Standish, global retail lead at Accenture, said Millennials are leading the pack.

They are also more likely to shop at retailers that share their values. And they often know those thanks to social media.

“So it’s really interesting that brands and retailers, what they do and what they say and what products they have and how they perform is really transparent,” Standish said.

However, even more Millennials care about good deals.

And when it comes to online versus in-store shopping, most people like to do both.
